“There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it’s going to be a butterfly.” — Buckminster Fuller

There are so many things I love about being creative. Like Buckminster Fuller’s quote, so often with a creative project we don’t know where following our creativity is going to lead us. Following a tiny creative “spark” can lead you to a great big idea that changes your life or the way you look at the world. Or it can create something beautiful that takes your breath away. Creativity can make our lives easier, charm us, entertain us and heal our souls.

Yet so many adults feel they aren’t creative. In kindergarten you probably reached for those many colored crayons with great gusto. Today in adulthood you hold your black or blue ballpoint pen with great seriousness. Creativity is something you regard with curiosity and a bit of apprehension. Well “only” artists and people like that are creative after all. There is no way someone like you could be creative. This is completely untrue! You can nurture your creative soul and awaken wonderful ideas of many kinds you can only dream about. Try these creative jump-starts to look at your creativity differently.

Spend 10 minutes a day having pure FUN. Creative people know that being creative is fun. Think about what you find simply fun and you may realize just how creative you are after all. Your creativity does express itself in many ways. Bake homemade bread or cook a pot of delicious homemade soup. Write an enchanting tale to tell your children at bedtime. Create a game to play with your family over the weekend. Dig in your garden. Lose yourself daily for at least ten minutes in pure fun. Don’t worry about that report that is due, the bills that are due or anything else. For those moments, just have fun. They will pay you with awakened creativity.

Try StumbleUpon. Many of us know that you can find so many things on the Internet. Investigate the fun tool StumbleUpon to try stumbling upon new websites that they think you’ll like based on your interests. So if you tell the StumbleUpon tool that you love dogs, running, chocolate and travel – it will show you many websites based on these subjects. Often these are websites you’d just never run across through a simple search engine search. Use this fun tool daily to deepen your interest in your favorite things and keep thinking in a creative way.

Surround yourself with beauty and “the unique.” People that start to think creatively begin to notice their surroundings more, it is an amazing thing. You start to feel more sensitive about what is in your office, home and other locations. Make it your intention to fill each location with beauty and items that welcome your senses. This will keep your creative receptors working even when you don’t realize it. Our creativity is often inspired by things we see, smell, feel, sense, hear and otherwise sense in our lives. The more you can fill your environment with lovely things for your senses – the more creativity you’ll experience each day.

Whether you like this guy or not, he is a person of influence, and though the way that we look at media has been changing at the speed of soundbytes, we are keeping up in our own individual ways….He owns MySpace.

Murdoch was King, when newspapers where how we all got our news. Now owner of Fox News Corp. He has glob trotted to acquisition nearly the entire worlds media mavens, like the monopoly man of printed words, he has made his mark and continues to do so on a daily basis.

Being chosen to do the top 12 in LA, I have fun picking and choosing, meeting, and eventually adding each one to an illustrated pedestal of immortality in ink, oil, or chalk.

And as the sands of time go by, this guy will be remembered for his supremacy in syndication of content. I resonate the most with his few words “it’s all about content”.

“Here is the question for you….
If you could share one thing with the entire world right now,
what would it be?”

I would share my passion for inspiring others through Art.

My inspiration for this portrait.

Inspiration comes from unexpected places…

Tedd and I were at the Mondrian Hotel kicking back.

After about 3 triple Vodka Red Bulls I usually hit my creative stride but, never quite like this…. suddenly the idea hit Me!

After chewing tedd’s ear off about what was going on in my “grass is greener on the other side” life, he says to me non chalantly “you should do Ruppert Murdoch” BAM! my ears perked up and immediatly I began to investigate the name.

Since then, every time I set out for a portrait I start having dreams.
Last time I was with Ruppert in his Art Museum…. we were rapping about the meaning of art and how funny it was that I understood why he lived inside an art museum?!?

The more I open to my creativity the harder it become to peel the two apart…

(Confusing even Freud),

Yikes!
I mean if you can relate to this you are truly an artistic mind of hidden talent and personal flare!
Many times, at my unvielings and shows people ask me with enthusiasm and wonder “How long did that take you?” i reply, “a few hours” in a nervous quiver….
GASP!
Then the “oh I wish I had your life” onslaught begins….”me?” I contort, in my own mind.

Back at the bat cave I realize that what people most often are blind to is the amount of “emotional battery” that we emotional entrepeneurs actually use up and generate with in a single creative session. Then the callatarel damage and long term back swing of such a starburst in energy sets me back a few dozen hours, a depression and a grande green tea latte at starbucks.

My biggest chalenge is balancing the ultimate Freedom(wich can look like insanity if I stay in the infinite for too long, scary shit to never feel gravity, up, down, and your own wieght beneath you.) with a structured and ego satisfaction of taking care of the hard parts of my life. When working creatively I experience a pure freedom almost out of body experience that not many people can relate to fully, when I return to my body and my ambitions, hopes fears, sexuality, and overall cataclysmic human nature I realize I have been away from it for some time.
If I have not lost you yet, take another look at this from a more practical side. If I am light bulb, and use a certain amount of voltage to illuminate the world around me, how many times could I max out my lumins before I needed to replace the actual hardware that acts as a conductor for it?
Bigger Expression of Creative flow, bigger upkeep and a necessity for stronger, longer, more durable components…..
this is what makes my world go round. In circles and twisty loops, like a bowl of sphagetti. yum.
